Welcome to Another Exciting Figure Skating Season!

We are thrilled to welcome you and your skaters to another season of figure skating with Oka Figure Skating, a branch of Oka Skating Academy. Our team can’t wait to meet your skaters on the ice and help them grow in skill, confidence, and enjoyment of the sport.

Who We Are

Oka Figure Skating specializes in advancing skaters’ skills at every level, from first-time skaters to advanced athletes. Our coaching team is dedicated to providing high-quality training that helps each skater reach their individual goals.

We believe the rink should be a safe, supportive, and an inspiring environment. Our Williston program gives skaters of all ages the opportunity to improve their technique, explore testing or competition if desired, and enjoy the process in a structured, encouraging setting.

With an athlete-centered approach that balances hard work with fun, we focus not only on strong technique, but also on building confidence, creativity, and a lifelong love of skating. As parents, you can feel confident that your child is learning in a professional, positive, and goal-driven environment.

What We Offer

Oka Figure Skating provides weekly, personalized coaching designed to help each skater advance at their own pace. Our season runs October through February, with optional post-season opportunities in March.

Skaters are enrolled in weekly private lessons with a U.S. Figure Skating certified member of our coaching team. Lessons are personalized to each skater’s skill level and goals, ensuring a unique and effective experience. Families pay a monthly enrollment fee that covers their weekly lesson, plus access to additional ice time for practice.

Depending on skill level and interest, skaters can also participate in:

  • Additional classes, including ballet, power-skating, and test/competition prep

  • Figure skating testing and competitions, guided by our coaching team

Because we have a limited coaching team, we strive to maintain small class sizes and personalized attention for every skater. While we wish we could serve everyone, once our schedule is full, new skaters are added to a waitlist.

Who We Serve

Our program is perfect for committed skaters at all levels, from first-time learners to advanced athletes. Skaters ready to explore testing or competition will find structured guidance and opportunities to challenge themselves in a supportive environment.

Provides an uplifting and positive environment…

We LOVE Oka Skating Academy! This is Nora's second year with private lessons & both Mallory & Brenna have been wonderful. The best experience I have had with any sports program…

There is no doubt they are having an absolute blast out there. Also seeing how quickly my daughter has learned to skate and watching her confidence on the ice grow far past my expectations. It was by far the best experience I have had with any sports program I have put her in and looking forward to next year already

Lesson Schedule

Our Oka Figure Skating season runs October through February, with optional post-season opportunities in March. All enrolled skaters participate in weekly private lessons, scheduled at the same time each week within our available ice sessions.

Current Ice Times:

  • Sundays: 4:15–8:15 PM

  • Tuesdays: 3:00–4:15 PM

  • Wednesdays: 6:00–8:00 AM

  • Thursdays: 3:00–4:15/4:30 PM

In addition to your skater’s weekly lesson, they are welcome to practice on any available ice within these sessions, unless a scheduled class is taking place. Any classes that impact open ice will be announced in advance. This schedule provides families with consistent weekly lessons while giving skaters plenty of opportunity to practice, refine skills, and explore additional classes or testing prep.

Add-On Lessons

Families also have the option to purchase Add-On Lessons with our coaching team. These lessons are extra lessons scheduled outside of the regular weekly lesson and cannot replace the weekly lesson time.

Add-On Lessons are popular among skaters preparing for testing or competitions, but all members are welcome to request additional coaching throughout the season, as long as the coach has availability. This option allows skaters to receive extra practice, focused guidance, or specialized support whenever it’s needed.

Meet Our Coaches

Our U.S. Figure Skating certified coaching team is dedicated to helping every skater reach their full potential in a safe, supportive, and fun environment. With a mix of experience in private lessons, testing, competitions, and performance, our coaches work closely with families to set individual goals and provide personalized guidance.

To participate in our 2025-2026 skating season, all interested families must complete our intake forms during our enrollment period: August 21 - September 17, 2025.

Perks

Frequently Asked Questions

HOW DOES PAYMENT WORK?

Participation in our program is paid for with a monthly fee. You can opt to pay for the entire season (five months) upfront or pay each month via automatic payments. Payment for competition is completely separate and invoiced by the coach.

WHAT HAPPENS IF WE ARE GONE ONE WEEK?

You will pick it up when you return! There are no make-up days for group lessons and classes.

WHERE ARE LESSONS HELD AT?

Agri Sports Complex and the Pete Conlin Arena (Raymond Family Center). Your reminder texts will state what location your lessons are at. Our master calendar will also state what rink our ice sessions are at.

HOW CAN MY CHILD GET MORE PRACTICE TIME?

All Oka Skating Academy students are welcomed to each ice session we have (three to four days a week) regardless if they have a scheduled lesson or not. We highly encourage skaters to use all ice sessions to practice their skills!

WHO WILL BE MY CHILD’S COACH?

Your child will be paired with a coach based on their skill level and availability (our coaches are available different days). After completing the intake form, your proposal will list who your child is paired with. Please note, if you worked with a certain coach last season, we will prioritize your time with that coach.

WHO WILL MY CHILD BE IN A GROUP LESSON WITH?

Small group lessons are paired based on skill and age, which is gathered in the intake form. The goal for all groups is to have skaters very similar in skating skills. It is important to note that our limited ice time will likely require most skaters to share a lesson time.

WHAT SHOULD MY CHILD WEAR?

Figure skaters must have leggings or tights/skirt combo, non-baggy clothing. Hats and gloves are permitted. For our youngest skaters just learning how to skate, we suggest snow pants and a winter jacket as we always start crawling on the ice/practicing getting up. Helmets are required for those just getting started.

TIEING AND BUYING SKATES, CAN YOU HELP?

Refer to this document for skate information!

We recommend the Platinum Edge in Minot, ND for skate needs.

Have Questions?

We’re here to help! If you have any questions about the program, lessons, or registration, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Our team is happy to provide guidance and make sure your skater’s experience is smooth and enjoyable.
