JUNE POWERSKATE
Small Group Training. Real Skill Development.
Join us this June in Devils Lake for three weeks of focused on-ice powerskating development built for hockey athletes looking to continue growing their skating skills during the off-season.
Athletes are placed into small training groups based on skating ability and areas needing development — not simply team level. This allows sessions to stay efficient, challenging, and personalized, while giving athletes more direct feedback and hands-on coaching throughout each session.
Training focuses on power, edges, stride mechanics, agility, and overall skating technique, with additional designated ice time available each week for athletes to independently practice and apply what they are learning outside of lessons.
All on-ice sessions are led by Coach Mallory Jevning and additional coaching support staff, as available.
SKATING SKILLS MAKE THE DIFFERENCE
AT EVERY LEVEL OF HOCKEY — FROM SQUIRTS TO BANTAMS, JUNIORS TO THE NHL — SKATING IS THE FOUNDATION THAT IMPACTS EVERY PART OF THE GAME.
A player’s skating ability directly influences their speed, edges, agility, puck control, shooting opportunities, body positioning, and overall confidence on the ice. Strong skating skills create better hockey players.
That’s why proper skating fundamentals should be developed early and continually refined throughout an athlete’s career. The players who continue investing in their skating development as they grow are the ones who separate themselves over time.

Registration Process
Registration for June Powerskating is a multi-step process designed to help us create the best possible training groups and schedules for our athletes.
To get started, complete the initial registration form linked below. After submission, the Prospective Athlete Form will automatically be sent to your email inbox. This second form must be completed for each athlete and includes important information such as skating level, skills needing improvement, scheduling availability, and interest in additional private lessons.
Once registration closes on Sunday, May 31st, training groups and schedules will be created based on athlete age, skating ability, and availability. Final schedules will be emailed to registered families no later than Thursday, June 4th.
Scheduling & Ice Information
Athletes will receive a total of 3–4 small group training sessions over the course of the three-week program. Registration also includes access to 4+ hours of designated open ice each week for additional practice and development.
Squirt and above athletes are prioritized for scheduling. If ice availability and registration numbers allow, Mite athletes will also be added to the schedule.
**Please note that the tentative ice schedule listed above reflects the maximum amount of ice currently reserved for the program. Ice usage will ultimately depend on registration numbers, and if sessions do not fill, portions of the ice schedule may be reduced.
Open Ice
While professional coaching and proper skating instruction are extremely important, so is the time athletes spend practicing those skills outside of lessons. That’s why we strongly encourage all registered athletes to take advantage of our designated ice time throughout the week.
Our coaching team typically works with one small group at a time, meaning only a portion of the ice is being used for structured instruction. The remaining ice surface stays available for registered athletes to independently practice skating skills, puck handling, shooting, edges, and overall development while lessons are taking place.
Athletes who consistently use their additional ice time to apply and repeat what they are learning in lessons will always see the greatest growth and return in their investment.
Pucks and nets will be available during designated ice sessions for athletes to utilize.
Coaching Team & Additional Lessons
The June Powerskating coaching team will include Coach Mallory Jevning, with tentative additional support staff to be announced.
All registered athletes will also have the option to request additional private lessons with the coaching team, pending availability. Interest in private lessons can be indicated within the Prospective Athlete Form.
