Why POWER & EDGE

Simply put, if you can’t skate you can’t play the game. Skating skills (which build “power and edge”) make the difference between every level of athlete from mites to bantams to collegiate athletes.

Skating is at the very core of skill development in hockey. Skating ability determines the ability threshold for puck handling, passing, body contact and shooting.

It is important that young players focus on learning the proper skating fundamentals, and that skating is continually worked on as a player progresses.*

We believe the sooner athletes start developing the proper skating fundamentals the greater their skill development will be.

Let’s build these fundamentals together at our PRESEASON CAMP!

What Our Camp Offers

Our camp offers power and edge development training for mites through high school leveled athletes! Our on ice training will be broken down into ‘topics’ such as edges, stride, transitions, etc.

Each group can expect to be at the rink two, out of the three days of camp. All groups will have a combination of on and off ice classes.

  • Coach Mallory will lead all on ice classes while other professionals will lead the off ice classes!

  • We are excited to bring in Dr. Victoria Williams, psychologist and former D1 women’s hockey athlete, to present to specific groups on mindset.

  • Travis Pribula of CrossFit Vokse will work with specific groups for off ice movements.

  • The Oka Skating Academy coaching team, Sam Miller and Hailey Kreiger will assist with all areas of camp.

SCHEDULE

The following schedule is TENTATIVE. The final schedule is based on registration numbers for each group. The final schedule will be released no later than Tuesday, October 24th, in your camp packet.
